Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Z To The U — 16 Jul 2017
Hollywood is crazy. Have we stooped so low to accept this nonsensical, "critically acclaimed" crap? A true insult to intelligent audiences.
Why were you rooting for the apes? A: Because they're drumming up civil rights, WW2, cute (moral) animals, and the Vietnam war to appeal to your emotions. It's all been done before... and much better.
There's no war! It's a small battle that takes place in the American Northwest (forget the planet)... and that's if you make it thru the first 2 acts where you'll encounter a 'Jar-Jar Binks' character and a terrible script. I imagine this gruesomely boring stretch is where some reviewers walked out. Long pauses between words. No sci-fi element. 95% RT wth?? It's watchable as a B movie (some grossly fake looking apes without the cgi). And if you rated this highly, ask yourself if you would watch it again? Wake up people! Hollywood has been feeding us this formula because they're truly lost trying to find originality (especially Sony) and they're not losing any more cash... so hello biased critics. You got us...a dumbed down audience that accepts your movie as rated 95%. This is 2017's summer box-office band-aid for Transformers; but it's worse because you'll go in looking for a masterpiece based on these emotional reviews.
