Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Shervin H — 21 Jun 2017
Movies are so bad this summer that I don't even bother commenting on them. This 'Apes' sequel is not one of them. In fact, in a sea of mindless superhero universes, Transformers and Tom Cruise, this may be the only wannabe blockbuster worth seeing this summer.
It's well-shot, the apes convey more emotion with their eyes and sign language than the whole cast of [insert name of any superhero flick here], and in a world with never-ending cinematic universes and postcredits teasers for "what's next" to get fanboys all antsy, this film has closure and a satisfying ending.
