Review of War Dogs (2016) by Jacqueline C — 27 Aug 2016
Todd Phillips latest film "War Dogs" is a breath of fresh air in a summer cluttered with disappointment. I actually walked out of the film feeling satisfied and that hasn't happened for quite a while.
Phillips has a keen eye for this type of film after the success of The Hangover Trilogy and although this is not an all out comedy, it certainly has all the elements you expect from the man behind such a successful series.
Based on a true story the film follows Miles Teller and Jonah Hill who try their hand at gun running. It's smartly written and incredibly well shot and stylistically it reminded me most of some of Martin Scorsese's work. Voice overs, freeze frames and a wonderful soundtrack all combine to make a really enjoyable film. I highly recommend it.
