Review of War Dogs (2016) by Dorian G — 31 Jul 2017
Not the worst, but far from the best. There have been many films of this type (guys get too rich, too quick, doing possibly illegal activities), like Scarface, which this film references, and most of them do it better.
The story followed the format, a little too closely, but still made it entertaining. The acting was generally poor, with a Bradley Cooper shoehorned in (in a obviously poor performance, he still gots to get paid, yo), and I found the wife character to be especially bad, even her interesting accent couldn't save her cardboard acting.
Teller deserves better roles (have you seen Whiplash? Amazing!), and Hill did a decent job, his fake laugh was spot on, but he is an Academy Award nominated person! He should make better films!
Worthwhile if you really like this type of movie, or guns, or government contracts.
Watched on Shaw on demand at home with Sam, August 1, 2017.
