Review of War Dogs (2016) by Thomas K — 30 Nov 2016
War Dogs admirably takes its subject matter quite seriously, only occasionally dipping into full on comedy. The story is compelling enough, but underneath all the sheen, there really isn't anything too deep here or even thrilling.
It is an adequate film from top to bottom but one that lacks impact. Miles Teller and Jonah Hill turn in solid performances while Bradley Cooper seems wildly miscast as an arms dealer. It's nice to see Todd Phillips head into a completely different direction than his Hangover films, lets just hope it's more substantial next time.
Rating: 58.
