Review of War Dogs (2016) by Kevin W — 21 May 2017
This is a dark biographical comedy from the director of The Hangover films about 2 ordinary guys who by pure luck, tenacity and being in the right place at the right time won a $300 million contract to supply arms to the US government.
Obviously being a film about international arms dealing it has it's darker moments as well as the lighter. Both leads were pretty decent, it was a good story that discusses the moral implications of what they were doing to make their fortune but it doesn't quite delve far enough.
I thought the subject was tackled better in Lord of War which must be over 10 years old now, the opening of that film was both gripping and shocking, it had a message and had me hooked straight away. War Dogs had a memorable soundtrack and was worth a one off watch but not one I would go back to.
