Review of Wanted (2008) by Daniel H — 06 Apr 2012
Just have kisI really hoped that Wanted was going to be better than I thought it was going to be. Sadly, it was worse. A lot worse. I know the film is based on a comic book and it's probably the fact that I've been spoiled by comic book fare that has been more based in reality (Iron Man, The Dark Knight) this year, but still... Apparently being a great assassin is inherited, like eye color and "inies" and "outies" and leads to the ridiculous story of a pathetic office worker (James McAvoy) who goes from a pathetic, whining human being to super stud assassin in the span of fifteen seconds. Yes, it's that quick and that painful to watch. From there it's your basic revenge tale, followed by another, then lastly another.
I have no idea why Morgan Freeman is in this other than he knew ahead of time about his accident and hoped that a blow to the head would eliminate the memories of this mediocre film featuring a "mute" Angelina Jolie out of his head.s.
