Review of Wanderlust (2012) by Marc L — 09 Sep 2012
Right off the bat we have the handsome as always Paul Rudd (George) married to the adorable Jennifer Anniston (Linda). Please note this is a Judd Apatow movie so Iâ(TM)m sure most of you know where this is going. They purchase a micro loft (studio apartment) in the heart of NYC. They have to sell the loft after George loses his good paying job and Linda fails to sell a strange penguin documentary to HBO. This is a very fast paced movie.
They take a trip down to Atlanta to live with Georgeâ(TM)s brother. They stop at Elysium and stay the night at a bed and breakfast. Turns out it is a commune. They roll their car after backing away from a nude guy, smoke a lot of pot, and never sleep. The residents of Elysium rub their fingers together instead of clapping. They stay for the night and head back for Atlanta after the residents beg them not to go.
Georgeâ~s brother, Seth, has an unnecessarily large house and somewhat of a temper and ego issue. His poor wife, Marisa, spends her days and nights alone drinking margaritas and ordering items from Skymall. George works for his brother Seth while searching for other jobs. They decide they canâ(TM)t take that lifestyle and head back to Elysium. After a few weeks of hippie life some builders decide they want to place a casino on the Elysium property. There are a few creepy scenes. One including a woman giving birth on the front porch. Two being a slow motion run with only nudists. Pretty funny and more entertaining than I expected. Rudd and Anniston were great picks and fed off of each others acting abilities. Great movie to watch with a group of friends but be ready to hold your breathe during a few awkward scenes.
