Review of Wanderlust (2012) by Harry W — 24 Mar 2013
Wanderlust benefits from its impeccably loveable cast and done of the greatest cinematography to ever have existed in a comedy film, but the laughs are hit and miss and the story seems to lack direction or the ability to step out from plot predictability.
The Cast of Wanderlust is great and totally out there, and Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd make a great lead duo. They also gain support from notable cast members such as Alan Alda and Lauren Ambrose in fascinating character roles.
Wanderlust also examines life independent from the material world in a nice light matter assisted by the comedy.
But the laughs are inconsistent and hit and miss, and the plot dynamics are predictably cliche, especially so for a film about getting away from standard civilisation.
Wanderlust is too laid back for its writers to make clever contributions to the story so it ends up like a half assed version of Easy Rider without all the tragedy and drugs.
So the plot of Wanderlust is a story told well, but it isn't really a story that's worth telling because it feels like its been told before. But the great cast ensure you have a certain level of fun in Wanderlust.
