Review of Waltz with Bashir (2008) by Roman D — 19 Sep 2009
In complete and total contrast with my last review, Waltz With Bashir is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. Haunting, dark and mesmerizing, it draws you in and shakes your preconceptions hard, all the way up until the ending credits. Despite being a documentary, it has the power of a well-written drama with fully-fleshed people that seem so real despite their animated presence. I could ramble on about the excellent action segments, but I don't see the point. You owe it to yourself to see this, and it still stuns me as to why it didn't win Best Foreign Film at the Acadamy Awards.
OVERALL: 10/10 Perfection.
