Review of Waltz with Bashir (2008) by John M — 30 Nov 2009
The detective aspect seems a little overblown, but it gently highlights how slippery memory is under any circumstance, to say nothing of a blood feud that clings to memory. The flash animation is not consistently effective, but there are some beautiful set pieces here that demonstrate how effective the media can be in large-scale serious works.
I am not wholly satisfied with the ending but the build towards it is slow and tense.
