Review of Waltz with Bashir (2008) by Phil S — 20 Apr 2010
My first film in Hebrew! Amazing animated film about the filmmaker recalling his memories of the Lebanon War, thorugh a fictional memory loss plot that see's him seek out all his old friends to unlock these memories, leading up to a shocking and traumatic event that he witnessed.
.... Really great to look at, kind of a cross between CG rotoscoping and a flash animation, the intro credits scene is particularly striking, a wicked surreal soundtrack to match the bizzare imagery too.
All I'll say about the ending is it's an absolute sucker punch..... be prepared.
