My rating for this is based almost entirely on personal taste over judgement of quality. it's a stylized docu-drama that tells a haunting war story full of graphic carnage and painfully repressed memories.
the animation style is unique--while it takes some getting used to, it's very effective and quite beautiful in places. the back-and-forth interview narrative is a bit choppy and confusing in places, and it often comes across as quite dry.
still, the story is incredibly powerful and leaves you feeling stirred and emotionally chilled. a film that I would value quite highly, although personally it just isn't my thing.
