Review of Waltz with Bashir (2008) by Ana A — 13 May 2010
A new genre perhaps - docu-animnation or animated documentary - whichever way you prefer; and a new and unique movie experience! Animation is an apt choice for bringing out the memories and subconscious of the filmaker and his peers about the 1980's Lebanon war.
The surreality of impressions and comic-styled drawing actually highlighted the reality of war. The film deals a final blow in the end --- it's all true, the brutality and absurdity of it all. And the truth is hard to swallow.
