Review of Waltz with Bashir (2008) by Richard C — 30 Nov 2010
An impressive animation film depicting events in the Lebanon war and a massacre that occurred in the refugee camps. The animation was very captivating and unique, combined with excellent dialogue and plot that kept the movie going at a suspenseful pace.
Clearly it is about the devastation and finality of war, but it is also a documentary-like film in which the director is piecing parts of his past together from his memories about the Lebanon War. The ending shows the results of the massacre in the only real life footage of the movie, and it is emotionally disturbing and will leave you sitting in front of the screen thinking about how terrible it was for these people to go through the massacre.
Very impressive film about war and its atrocities.
