Review of Waltz with Bashir (2008) by Adil N — 16 Jul 2012
A haunting introspective journey, narrated by a reluctant witness of a tragic, ungodly act of war.
It's a beautifully presented visual style, that cushions the viewer to the nightmarish scenes that are presented to them.
Watching this, we are privy to information being accounted to first hand by former soldiers themselves. It provides an odd glimpse into the mind of aging military veterans dealing with the psychology of traumatic memories.
In the final scene beware as the veil of animation is lifted --revealing stock footage of the massacre, and an uncomfortable window into the carnage.
Won't watch again, but will recommend.
