Review of Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) by R.t. — 28 Oct 2005
Wallace and Gromit are such great characters that any attempt to bring them to the big screen is a good thing. That said, I'm afraid this installment repeats a lot of what used to be fresh, and the whole enterprise feels like its slipping into a formula in which a) Wallace has a love interest, b) there is an enemy dog who harrasses Gromit, and c) Gromit saves the day in a high-speed chase.
I'm not anti-formula per se, but too much of this film felt borrowed from its two superior predecessors, right down to the rabbit who utters the non-sequitur "Cracking toast, Gromit!" I had fun watching this, but I felt later as if I'd been laughing at the memories of better installments as much as anything.
