Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) by Daryl T S — 12 Jul 2011
Typical punchy bombastic direction from Oliver Stone overlaying a gimmicky script of corny one-liners. "I'll make you a deal. You stop lying on me and I'll stop telling the truth about you.
" Really? We waited over 20 years for Gordon Gekko to say that. The always likable Shia LaBouf played his nervous nerdy schtick way too much in this movie. The scenes where he was suppose to be morally outraged made him look like a pouty-stompy child.
Michael Douglas' sexy sinister veneer in 1987's Wall Street was dulled into a grizzled rooster here. Frank Langella was interesting and Carey Mulligan, though very weepy was relatively affective as Gekko's estranged daughter.
The twist was obvious and the ending was just unbelievable. This film should be retitled: Wall Street: Bad Sequels Never Sleep.
