Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) by Kyle S — 15 Jun 2011
Although it's obviously not as good as the original I was surprised by the amount of good filmaking that took place within the film. A simple plot was made interesting by good performances all around and a surprisingly superior actng job by Shia Le Beouf who I have not found to be a wide ranged actor until this specific film.
It is still a popcorn flick at best (although a good popcorn flick) and that can be blamed on Oliver Stone's constant need to be a "serious" filmaker that actually has turned into a completley transparent director that has overstayed his welcome in hollywood.
His material needs to get better, fast. This movie was good only because of an easy yet enjoyable plot and a strong characters, not good direction. Still Wall Street 2 deserves to be seen, it's interesting to see how much the world has changed fiscally and this movie shows that in a certain light that makes "normal" folk understand.
