Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) by Derek S — 25 Aug 2011
A very educational, often thrilling sequel to Oliver Stone's Wall Street. Michael Douglas proves he can still act as good as anyone around, and he still has that spark in this film, with Shia Labeouf doing his best, but ultimately the result is just average.
The story deals with lots of financial issues, more so here than the original, with Jacob Moore (Labeouf) facing the obstacles of money and his girlfriend Winnie, masterfully executed I might add. (Carrie Mulligan).
Similarities here, as the main character can never do too much to obtain as much dirty cash as possible. This sequel is worthy in it's own right, but showing signs of it's worn out, and already wonderfully written script 10 plus years back.
For the most part "Money Never Sleeps" is an enjoyable financial drama/thriller, that has more strengths than weaknesses. I recommend it for those into the original.
