Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) by Marcus B — 27 Jul 2012
Well, it didn't make any difference that Stone sat in the director seat and that Douglas made a reappearance as Gordon Gekko. "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" is yet another proof that the sequel is never as good as the original.
In this case, the sequel doesn't even come close to the original. Don't misunderstand me, it's very competently made movie, with excellent acting and surprisingly interesting musical score.
But the story... well, it leaves a lot to be desired for. First of all it's rather incoherent - there are to many subplots, or rather personal interests, that have very little to do with each other.
They all struggle for attention and produce a very disjointed movie. Also, the movie tries to take a moral stand-point of some kind, but to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure of WHAT kind.
