Review of Wall Street (1987) by Matt R — 17 Jan 2011
This flick shows how greed plays a role in Wall Street's business (at least, back in the 80s), but it's not necessarily finely-honed. Charlie Sheen isn't the greatest actor, and although Douglas really shines as Gordon Gekko, he's not enough to really carry the entire movie.
It's classic, it's iconic, but it's also cheesy, dated, and a bit convoluted. I came away from this movie still not sure just how it related to the S&L Crisis of the 80s - which I thought it was somehow supposed to be about.
