Review of Wall Street (1987) by Jesse O — 21 Jul 2011
When you've got a larger than life character like Gordon Gekko being handled by an actor as great as Michael Douglas, you're in for a ride. Oliver Stone's "Wall Street" sometimes talks over its audiences heads but that adds to the allure of the big-time brokers the film is about.
You'll be hard-pressed to find a more "80s" film but almost everything the movie deals with still holds up in today's world. When Gekko isn't going off in a typically cold-blooded way, the best scenes from "Wall Street" are the difficult to watch interactions between Charlie Sheen's Bud Fox and his real father Martin Sheen on blue collar vs white collar living.
