Review of Wall Street (1987) by Michael W — 28 Dec 2013
Before Wolf of Wall Street there was the movie Wall Street. Wall Street was the Harbinger of what is actually happening to America now! The stories two main characters (Michael Douglas) Gordon Gekko and Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) represent the movies' two clashing stories.
Venture capitalist banker Gekko is a sleezy, non-empathetic believer that greed is good. Young and hunger stock broker Bud Fox buries all his ethics to join Gekko's inner circle. Carl Fox (Martin Sheen) Bud's dad tries to warn Bud that Gekko is someone who destroys, takes and never creates.
The hard hitting reality of what happens to the little people, when Gekko lies and tries to buy the airline his family works at only to sell the parts off and raid the pension. The question of ethics and others are asked, and Bud tries to make his past mistakes right.
Two of the best acting performances of Charlie's and Michael's careers. Worth watching. Four stars.
