Review of Wall Street (1987) by Jason J — 06 Feb 2011
Wall Street is an excellent movie. A spectrum of human greed and ruthlessness. Director Oliver Stone takes on the stock exchange in this powerful look at how eagerness and ambition turns the life of a young stock broker upside down.
Stone provides a thrilling story driven by a greedy Michael Douglas and a naive Charlie Sheen. This movie is extremely relevant in the current climate. The global economy was plunged into bitter and unchartered depths thanks to the greed of big finance, big governments and fat cats.
Michael Douglas provides a breathtaking performance as Gordon Gekko an unstoppable corporate raider who is willing to stop at nothing to get his millions - it's probably the best role he's played.
This is a searing movie depicting the greed and lust that Wall Street can bring out in anyone. Highly recommended.
