Review of WALL·E (2008) by Danny O — 17 Jun 2015
Wall-e is a very good animated film. The visuals are great, especially the outer space sequences. The robot characters are surprisingly likable, especially the hero Wall-e. The story is very creative and interesting.
The standout moments in the movie for me were when Wall-e was just roaming the Earth and doing his best to clean up the polluted Earth. Then Eve, a droid sent to scour the Earth for life forms a special bond with the little robot.
There is no dialogue in these scenes, and yet they were so well executed. The message of the film is painstakingly obvious, yet effective. The movie is touching and re-watchable. For me, I didn't think it was as outstanding as people make it out to be.
The pacing was slow at times, and it isn't quite as memorable as some other Pixar classics. But Wall-e is a great science fiction film that has a lot to say about how we take care of our world. Wall-e gets 4/5 stars (A-).
