Review of WALL·E (2008) by Kieran F — 23 Nov 2015
Rarely do I like animated films, but this one takes the cake. It is a flawless execution of anthropomorphism with robots. In a way, it is kind of explaining humanity through a more digital view. For example, the ending scene is easily recognized as a love cliche, that love brought Wall-e back. However, the film interpreted much more concisely. When Eve electric-kissed Wall-e the 1st time, she somehow made a digital copy of him into her memory database. When Wall-e was repaired, his memory board was replaced and so he reverted back to a blank robot. The 2nd electric-kiss copied Eve's backup of Wall-e back into him.
That is a very clear and digital explanation of love. Love is basically keeping a copy of the object of your affection in your heart. And when that person forget who they are (often through emotional tragedy or illness), many believe love will bring them back b/c in a way, we try to help them remember who they were since we remember them in our hearts.
Fantastic Film.
