Review of Walkout (2006) by James C — 30 Nov 2009
An amazing tell of students fighting for their future as they wanted and needed to change their schools. At first, I thought the students would have gotten their way very swift. I thought that because I have seen movies, shows, and whatever where all it takes one type action to get the protestors demands. However, Walkout is the first film that I have seen where it shows difficulties and challenges ahead. I was astonished and felt like I was in the movie. There are some descent perfomances as well.
Walkout was released in 2006 during the time when profiling and witch hunts became the topic over the issues in illlegal immigrants. I was in turmoil that year. I had my views, but dang, everywhere I went I felt like a target. If I encounter the person who's responsible for the turmoil, I will make a pleasure to kicking his behinds from here to anywhere. Give them a history lesson as well, maybe using my foot.
Anyways, the experience was amazing as I saw the Walkout in Fox Theater. People were cheering, clapping, laughing, and I think I even heard someone crying. Hence, there are some shocking scenes from police brutality to some very racial views. The last film I have seen with racial crimes against Mexicans was the Ballad of Gregorio Cortez (also starring Edward James Olmos).
Walkout & Milk are two great films. There are lessons to be learned in both films.
