One of the most pretentious and weird movies I've ever seen. It would have worked well as a pure historical drama, but the director tried to turn it into a metaphor for 1980s US foreign policy. He also tries to capture the insanity of Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness. The result is a pretentious, contrived, chaotic mess. Comical at times, but not funny.
Avoid.
