Cox is as absurd as ever, but this film comes from (what I assume is) his strongest period. It follows on the heels of "Sid and Nancy" and "Repo Man". It's no surprise that the imperialist themes ring true today.

Harris gives one of his most memorable performances as a man who would hold fiercely to his beliefs if only he knew what he stood for. He serves as an interesting counterpoint to many of Kinski's crazed jungle adventurers.

There's a good deal of humor to be found, but I suspect it'll still connect with a small audience. But, as they say, that's not always a bad thing.
