Review of Walkabout (1971) by Anthony D — 01 Jan 2008
Nicolas Roeg seems to have a running theme: mesmerizing boring films. It's certainly shot beautifully, with great use of the native landscape and wildlife, but he's also made a film with a simple, slow, dull, uneventful story, with characters I couldn't care less about (I simply wanted to THROTTLE that little kid.
..stupid director's son). As a piece of beautiful filmmaking, it's magnificent. As a piece of entertainment, it's crap.
