Review of Walkabout (1971) by Todd F — 29 Nov 2008
This one qualifies as art. Teenage girl and her younger brother are taken far from their city for a picnic in which their father tries to kill them and himself. They escape into the Australian outback.
Just about dead, they meet an Aborigine boy who's on a rite of passage (a walkabout). You actually have to pay attention when watching this. The dvd has commentary that helps if it's confusing or unclear.
