Review of Walkabout (1971) by Jeffrey M — 11 Feb 2009
A kind of predecessor of sorts to Nick Cave's The Proposition, in its presentation of the Australian Outback as a ruthless bit of nature, and its exploration of Australia's "civilizing elements," and the wild, natural life.
After an unexpected, and truly fascinating evolution of events, a brother and sister first fend for themselves, and then befriend an aboriginal who guides them reluctantly back to civilization. Slow. Gorgeous.
Fascinating.
