Review of Walk the Line (2005) by J K — 22 Sep 2012
Joaquin Phoenix probably should have won the Oscar for this in any normal year. It took Jamie Foxx's unbelievable turn as Ray Charles to swipe the award away. Easily Phoenix's best role, before he went insane and thought he could be a burnout rapper.
Reese Witherspoon was PHENOMENAL as June Carter Cash and fully deserved her first Oscar win for the role. Reese was born for that role. What I liked the most about this film was the fact the two character leads sung their own songs.
I loathe dubbing. But Phoenix and WItherspoon really sounded like the people they were portraying. My favorite part of the film was the end with the prison warden. Classic Cash.
