Review of Walk the Line (2005) by Teri C — 14 Mar 2013
The cycle of musician biopics finally got around to country superstar Johnny Cash in 2005. The narrative focuses mainly on the man in black (Joaquin Phoenix) and his tumultuous courtship of back-up singer June Carter (Reese Witherspoon).
The typical tropes of a rockstar "rise and fall story" are covered with solid acting and all the other expected flourishes. You've seen everything this movie has to offer in prior examples of the genre, but you'll probably enjoy it anyways if you're a fan of Cash's music.
