Review of Walk the Line (2005) by Tyler S — 19 Dec 2014
This is a damn good movie with performances so good you rarely see them. I love the fact both actors did the singing in this biopic of Johnny Cash.
The movie seems to be an accurate adaption of his wreckless life and the force of love is well present here. June Carter and Johnny Cash had a unique relationship that really was the basis of the film. Their interactions with each other were great and the film was definitely at its best when Phoenix and Wetherspoon shared the camera.
While the movie did well focusing on his wild life and addiction to substances the main draw was the love relationship between the two.
Overall a very solid film. Only complaint I had was maybe focusing more on his music and how if affected mainstream..
(which it did some) but a little more.
I loved the scene when he played a lick for the record company guy and really showed he had it and was on to something.
