Review of Walk of Shame (2014) by Thomas W — 20 May 2014
I'm kind of surprised they still make movies like this. Walk of Shame stars Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) as a "journalist" whose poorly timed and un-thought out one-night stand with a handsome bartender (James Marsden - X-Men) actually jeopardizes both her life and her career the following morning when she awakes and makes a dash to avoid a morning confrontation.
She makes her "Walk of Shame" without a car (it gets towed) or a phone (she lost it) and she treks across Los Angeles in hopes of getting to an all-important job evaluation that will determine the rest of her career.
Yes -- I laughed a time or two and Banks miraculously escapes this without any career damage; but this isn't very good. Some of the jokes and stunts are more shameful than Bank's initial act in the first place .
.. the movie could actually be a scathing critique on how horrible and how judgmental humans are when others are in need but the film does nothing but make light of it. This feels more like a screwball 80s comedy than something made in 2014.
