Review of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) by Ydnar4 — 21 Apr 2015
Walk Hard is a spoof of popular music biopics. This film draws most of its influence from Walk the Line, the Johnny Cash biography and Ray, the Ray Charles biography. This film was the best it could be in my opinion.
I'm glad it didn't turn into a Scary Movie rip off. It was wonderfully written by one of my favorite figures in comedy Judd Apatow and John C. Reilly finally gets a leading role after hiding behind Will Ferrell for years.
What makes the film fun are the amount of cameo appearances of rock stars both dead and alive. There are also many comedy characters hidden throughout the film. The original music is also pretty strong for a spoof movie.
