Review of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) by Maria Z — 08 Dec 2010
Genius, to skewer the rockumentary cliches was so necessary. To do it with so much original music, so well done. This movie is so amazing. I wonder if people just never saw it. John C. Reilly goes through like 60-70 years of his life, and so do we.
It's better than Forrest Gump. He's the whore. He's the comic relief and the straight character. He's Guilty as Charged. The costumes are brilliant. They filmed every music number all the way through.
Judd Apatow knew the pain this movie was going to be. He didn't hand it off because he didn't believe in it, it's because he did. Do yourself a favor and give it a chance. And Walk Hard.
