Review of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) by Ankur D — 02 Feb 2011
A parody of the Rockstar life and biographies that are based on it, Cox is funny and entertaining all throughout. This movie belongs to John C Reily as he takes his character and the audience through a roller coaster ride that he calls life.
The story is about Dewey as he begins looking for a new life as a rockstar. He gets to meet some of the greatest stars of each generation including Elvis, wonderfully played by Jack White, and the Beatles another great performances from Paul Rudd and Jack Black. His whole life makes up the story of the movie and each age gives us some of the best laugh-out-loud moments.
There are recurring moments of Dewey falling for drugs, although repetitive all the instances are funny, from the first scene where his drummer introduces him to marijuana to the scene where the Beatles introduce him to LSD. Each and every scene makes up the movie and they are all funny, his whole life may seem absurd but that's what makes some of the humor so funny. John C Reily gives one of his best performances in this movie.
This movie will make you Laugh-out-loud, and is one of the best parodies since Scary Movie and Airplane.
