Review of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) by Brad R — 11 Aug 2011
Now I don't give movies a 5 lightly but by all means this movie deserves it. I'm guessing that it's reference to the start of more rock and jazzy music is better appreciated by the older and more familiar with the history of it but still is able to be seen by everyone. From beginning to end this movie is ridiculous and laughable and the comedy is sometimes a bit crude and vulgar but that's what makes this movie so great; the ridiculousness is what gives it it's greatness. You see the beginning of a man and his career in music and along the way you see him get addict to non-habit forming drugs, have a penchant for women, lose his sense of smell, go to rehab and out and back, and having his brother sawed in half but it is all just great and fantastic the way it all happens and you feel for Dewey Cox (there is a LOT more but I wouldn't want to ruin too much now). This is a movie that your either going to love or hate and is really just one of those movies you HAVE to see. Too bad this gem isn't very well known and doesn't get all the praise that it deserves.
Walk hard Dewey, walk as damned hard as you please =).
