Review of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) by Viktor B — 05 Jul 2013
John C Reilly is terrific in this funny representation of the growth of a rock/folk/country star beginning in what appears to be the late 50's leading up to the legacy that is established in the present day.
The mainly exaggerated portrayal of the highs and lows the occur for the struggling musician are both accurate in a sense and overdone to the point of hilarity. The original music gives off a realistic feel of sympathy and joy toward Reilly's great performance as the straining guitarist, who demands a reasonable chance to make it big in the music industry.
His journey through the diverse decades of differentiating music is wonderful, depressing, and sometimes pathetic to witness.
