Review of Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price (2005) by Richard M — 03 Nov 2007
I found this doco thought-provoking and well made; I would have like to see more from Wal-Mart "true believers" whcih would have forced the viewer to make up their own mind about the cost/benefits of the Wal-Mart business model.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this movie is the apparent changes occuring in small town usa; I wonder whether the changes/decline of some of the down town shops would have occurred anyway, even if the Wal-Mart hadn't openned.
Bottom line with this movie is that it is a must see for anyone interested in social trends and consumerism (ie all of us that shop at a supermarket/shopping mall).
