Review of Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price (2005) by Amanda S — 16 Apr 2010
I was crying very hard at point in this film. It wasn't that the information was so new, but the film, like food inc, is very expansive it shows you how walmart effects so many things for the worst.
The part that really got me was showing Walmart factories in China and Latin America, they did a great job at showing how this American company and our sin as consumers is making lives miserable all over the word.
Wal mart, and what it represents is a disease we have spread all over the world. At one point a chinese worker looks at the camera telling us the reason we can buy such cheap goods is because of the sweat and tears of the chinese worker basically.
The film is a lot to take in and some parts are stronger than others, but its important and I hope a lot of people watch it and start to take responsibility for the american economy. shop local, shop ethical and handmade, wal mart is not really saving us money, its killing us!
