Review of Waking Sleeping Beauty (2009) by Dustin G — 10 Jan 2011
Fascinating movie giving us access to the inside of Disney Animation during its golden years circa The Little Mermaid - The Lion King.
It's great to see the originations of some of the concepts and artwork for these films and what it took to get them made.
As with any doc about a group of creative and successful people, you've got the infighting, clashing egos, hurt feelings, backstabbing and so forth.
It's not as entertaining as say, the Metallica doc Some Kind of Monster and there's no twists or suspense, but it's still entertaining and enjoyable getting to see the VERY unglamorous beginnings of DIsney Animation before the success of The LIttle Mermaid (which they almost didn't make).
A must for Disney fans, a definite check it out for film fans in general.
