Review of Waking Ned (1998) by Andrew B — 10 Mar 2008
Really didn't care much for this one. When I worked at a video store a while back, all the senior citizens kept this one constantly checked out and kept recommending it to their friends and families.
(Really it was very similar to the small community of elderly people in the small Irish town in the movie.) I found it to be too sentimental and overtly Irish, if that makes any sense. I also find it interesting that the MPAA would allow full-frontal nudity of elderly men to get only a PG rating, but then, it's a sweet, light-hearted film and the MPAA is filled with old people - that's why.
