Review of Waking Life (2001) by Jess R — 29 Oct 2008
An ambitious and original project from the talented mind of richard linklater, this a very liberated project. it works as one director's vision into the philosophies of life and dreams, asking questions that allow the human mind to expand its horizons and delve into ideas that we, as people, do not often ponder.
its brilliant in its sense of visual creativity and writing, but it may take multiple views to fully grasp one's full appreciation. its a giant step for linklater, who continues to balance his talents through progressive works such as this, and what the viewer would call the "average" film.
its an exposure of talent from outside the box of film-viewing basics. this is not for the basic audience.
