Review of Waking Life (2001) by Simon D — 21 Jul 2009
I forgot how great this movie is. so engaging. it's a bit like I <3 Huckabees, except not as funny (there are some funny parts, just not a lot) and really heavy on intellectual banter. I do love the endless discussion about dreaming.
it's so Descartes. you can feel the uncomfortable, exasperation of that..uncertainty. the act of not knowing where to draw the line between the real and the subconscious. are we all dreaming brains in a vat? the fact that we can never truly disprove this can be maddening.
hm. this is a lot like the premise of The Matrix too. i'm rambling..
