Review of Waking Life (2001) by Larry M — 20 Nov 2010
A profoundly interesting movie about life and death and all the other favorite topics of independent intellectual movies. "Waking Life" brings along Richard Linklacker's trademark intellectual riff-raff and musings and sets it to scenes animated all by separate animators.
The loose plot follows a young hipster ("Dazed and Confused"'s Wiley Wiggins) as he wanders around what is either his own dream subconscious, someone else's dream subconscious, or some kind of college-like purgatory.
May not be for everyone, especially given it's lack of a coherent plot, but for those with an appreciation for experimental and anything but lazy cinema will, well, this will a dream come true.
