Review of Waking Life (2001) by Katharine H — 05 Jul 2008
Although I appreciate some of the detached monologues, I fail to see any intended meaning beyond random rants of unrelated topics forced together as if pertinent to understand the interpolation of life and dream.
It is impossible to ignore its ambitious attempt but I loathe any argument which hides behind the idea that all dissent with its philosophy is wrong, unintelligent, and close-minded. Forgive the anthropomorphism but the film doesn't explore its philosophical musings; it only defends them.
